Firelite Center for Fitness & Fundamentals

We are an all inclusive center providing multiple class and individual session options to improve fitness in ones mind, body and self.  We strive to improve confidence in movement and perception of self.  We are occupational therapists focusing on the occupation of movement, peer interactions and healthy lifestyles. We have classes and programs for people of all abilities and all ages that want to move and improve healthy lifestyles .  With the fast paced social media, gaming, internet movement, people move less.  We at Firelite Center want to help people move MORE!   Read more to find a program that meets your goals!

Fitness/Sensory combo

Combination of fitness and movement skills, sensory experiences and peer interactions.  Offered for children from 1 year through teens.

Yoga 

Yoga Classroom with Yoga Mats and Blocks

Vinyassa style yoga workout for adults while your child attends! This  class can improve focus, mobility and relaxation with our certified yoga instructor Miss Emily. Open to public for drop ins!

Sensory Room

The perfect stop between activities for a sensory "reset" or exploration to engage  our senses and learn to regulate!

Fitness & FUNdamentals!

Fitness/Sensory combo Ages 3-5 and 6-12

Combination of fitness and movement skills, running, jumping, climbing,  sensory experiences and peer interactions.   Multiple class times available.

Firefly Fundamentals for 1-3 year olds

Members will experience an introduction to movement and practice milestone development skills.  All our little fireflies will attend this 45 min class with a grown up.  Each week will boast an obstacle course, sensory exploration , peer interaction and lots of new adventures!

Adaptive Tumbling & Dance

Members will learn dance fundamentals, counting music, basic and intermediate tumbling skills at their own individual pace. Occasional performances will be available for participation.

Firelite often has special events open to the public that are all inclusive fun events focusing on movement and positive peer interactions.  Some examples of special events are Family Fun night, partner workouts, Glow party workouts, game night, parents night out, etc.

Specialized Sports Training

Join Miss Emily as she leads you through drills, conditioning and preparation for your competitive sport! One on one or small group sessions can be individually scheduled for your specific sporting interest.

Specifically designed for Teens ages 13 and older who want to improve their level of fitness at a modified pace.  Individual's will work towards their potential developing strength, improved endurance, balance training, increased flexibility and most of all, improved confidence in body awareness!

Firelite Center

Discover Firelite Center, where fitness meets fun for all ages! Our facility boasts a large fitness area with multiple sensory swings, a large foam pit, climbing wall, and open space to develop movement and fitness skills.  We have  the Zen Den hosting our Yoga classes,   and the Sensation Station which is a great place to explore and experience all those sensory needs!  Emily & Heather are a Mother Daughter Duo who are passionate about movement as well as making fitness accessible to all! Our mission is to create a center that provides a safe environment for individuals of all abilities to be welcomed and comfortable growing their level of fitness and wellness.

EMILY DEMPSEY, OTR/L , DOT

Emily earned her doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020.  Throughout her life, she has developed a strong passion for fitness, nutrition, and a healthy mindset. It is that passion which drove her to create Firelite Center. Her love for healthy lifestyles coupled with her studies in OT were the perfect match for helping individuals achieve strong mind and body. Emily was a 2-sport competitive athlete at Seton Hill University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science prior to her doctorate degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Emily’s professional qualifications include a capstone research project on infant feeding protocols, development of a children’s fitness program at local gymnasiums, and work as a fitness trainer for children and adults. In Emily’s spare time you can find her preparing for a marathon on a trail or in the barn spoiling her horse, Rogue.

HEATHER LAWSON OTR/L, MOT

Heather is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh's Occupational Therapy Master’s program in 2002. Since then, she has been practicing OT in a variety of settings. She has managed teams of rehab therapists in skilled nursing facilities as well as created her own community therapeutic program for children called The Sensory Zone. Prior to becoming an OT, Heather managed a gymnastic school for many years and prior was a competitive gymnast/ dancer. Heather has presented multiple times at state and national conferences as well as being a clinical instructor for many students of OT. She has a love for improving the lives of others and has partnered with her daughter Emily to develop Firelite Center. The mother daughter duo's goal is to provide the community with a state-of-the-art center for development in mind & body for all individuals. During Heather’s free time, she enjoys cooking Sunday dinners for her family, working out at a crossfit gym or riding her bicycle on the trails with her husband.
